Xiaomi Mi 13 will be called Xiaomi Mi 14

As Qualcomm has already released the second-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship chip, logically, we’ll be meeting with new premium smartphones running the Android system one after another. Many smartphone makers have already disclosed their intentions to bring new devices powered by this chip. Xiaomi is the first on the list. Before this, we’ve been calling the new phone the Xiaomi Mi 13. But now, it turns out the latter will come with another name.

In fact, the brand hasn’t made any official statement saying it would be the Xiaomi Mi 13. But as the previous generation was called the Xiaomi Mi 12, we think it should be dubbed the Mi 13. However, today, 91mobiles showed the phone’s retail box with the Xiaomi Mi 14 name printed on it.

The information comes from Weibo, where some tipsters shared the specs of the upcoming handset.

Besides the Xiaomi Mi 14 marketing name, we can also see Leica branding on the package. Unfortunately, there is no photo on the box. So we can’t confirm or deny this or that leak concerning its design.

What we know about Xiaomi Mi 14

The spotted “About Phone” section of the phone shows that the Xiaomi Mi 14 comes with 12GB RAM and runs the Android 13 OS with MIUI 14 custom skin out of the box. The phone’s model number 2211133C matches China’s 3C certification. Though there is no mention of the chipset model, the clock speed of 3.2GHz suggests it is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Before this, we learned that the Xiaomi Mi 14 would sport a 6.2-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This display also adopts a punch-hole design. On the back, we have a 50MP primary camera, an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a depth lens.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will work with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB of native storage. We have no confirmed information about the battery capacity, but it will support a 67W fast charging.

The phone has got the BIS certification recently. Thus, it will be launched in India too. However, we guess it wouldn’t happen until the following year.

The camera module of the phone will be entirely overhauled. The square-ish module on the back will house three camera sensors and the LED flash. The engraved “Laser” text proves that the phone might have laser autofocus. The edges will be slightly curved. Thus, it will provide a better grip.

The Pro version

From many previous leaks, we know that the Xiaomi Mi 13 series will include at least two models. While the vanilla version described above will be a regular high-end phone, the Xiaomi Mi 13 Pro will have myriads of top-end features. For instance, it will sport the Sony IMX989 main camera with a 1-inch super outsole. This is the same sensor debuted by the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra before. Its photosensitive area has been increased by 172%, the photosensitive ability has been increased by 76%, the camera speed has been increased by 32.5%, and the startup speed has increased by 11%. It supports a 4K HDR night scene video shooting.

The Mi 13 Pro will use a 6.7-inch Samsung 2K E6 curved screen. The bezels will be narrower than the previous generation. It is expected to support OIS (optical image stabilization) as well as 120W super-fast charging.
