Xiaomi Mi 13 camera
Anyway, today, a Weibo blogger disclosed the camera parameters of the yet-to-come Xiaomi Mi 13 and the Pro variant. For instance, he said that the vanilla version would have a rear 54MP AI triple camera. The latter will include a 54MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens. By the way, the main camera and telephoto lens support OIS (optical image stabilization).
The main camera of the Xiaomi Mi 13 comes from the Sony IMX800 series. The sensor size is 1/1.49 inches, and the single pixel size can be further increased to 2 μm after four-in-one pixels. This will allow the camera to obtain better image quality and tolerance.
Compared with the IMX766 used by the previous generation of Mi 12, the Mi 13 uses a 54MP sensor. Also, the size of the base is larger. Coupled with Xiaomi’s influence on the brain and self-developed algorithm adjustments, its image performance is worth looking forward to.
In addition, the Mi 13 will come with a 10-megapixel Leica telephoto lens. There will be a Leica 75mm humanistic telephoto lens with an f/2.0 super large aperture. The company said this would be the most useful sub-camera on the Xiaomi Mi series.
More importantly, the Mi 13 will get a Leica mobile imaging blessing. The latter enables more applications of SLR lens technology in mobile photography and achieves further color management. For example, the phone will get Leica Classic and Leica Vivid image quality. The former perfectly reproduces the imaging style of Leica cameras and abandons the forced brightening effect on traditional smartphone cameras.
Xiaomi Mi 13 Pro camera
As for the Pro version, it will come with a triple camera as well. The latter will include a 50MP main camera, a 50MP super wide-angle lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens. Among them, the main camera is the Sony IMX989.
This sensor has a 1-inch super outsole, which the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra previously used. Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi, once introduced that Xiaomi and Sony jointly developed the Sony IMX989. Also, the Xiaomi engineering team participated in the specification definition and part of the design and verification work of the IMX989. The development cost was $15 million. Xiaomi and Sony each paid half.
Lei Jun pointed out that the Sony IMX989 is not only a milestone for Xiaomi but also a milestone in the field of mobile imaging. It’s actually the ceiling in the smartphone segment.
Compared with the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the Sony IMX989 has a 72% increase in photosensitive area, a 76% increase in light sensitivity, a 32.5% increase in camera speed, and an 11% increase in startup speed.
In addition, the Mi 13 Pro will come with a 50-megapixel Leica telephoto lens. It supports 3.2x optical zoom. Thus, the telephoto lenses of both models are identical.
In terms of key features, the Mi 13 Pro will sport Qualcomm’s second-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform. It improves the overall CPU performance by 35% and energy efficiency by 40%. At the same time, the GPU performance is increased by 25%, and energy efficiency is increased by 45%.
