BMW 5 Series Features

The BMW 5 Series long wheelbase offers two styling options: the Luxury Package and the M Sports Package. It retains the iconic double-kidney front grille, now adorned with champagne gold elements. Additionally, the angel eye headlights have been simplified for a sleeker look. The interior features a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel and a 14.9-inch dual screen. The rear seats showcase a standout 31-inch floating screen with 8K resolution and internet connectivity. BMW’s iDrive 8.5 system in this new 5 Series integrates a China-exclusive WeChat feature, enabling instant communication and in-car navigation sharing.

Tailored specifically for the Chinese market, the car incorporates nine distinctive design elements and configurations. Among these are a unique “五” logo adorning the front seat backrest, intricately quilted designs, three dual-color options, plush front headrests, thicker rear seats, and the aforementioned 31-inch screen.

The car comes equipped with a four-zone automatic climate control system, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and an L2+ intelligent driving assistance system. Additionally, it features an automatic lane change function with visual confirmation. The new 5 Series in China offers both a fuel version and a pure electric version. The fuel model will likely feature a 2.0T engine and a 48V mild hybrid system, producing 190 kilowatts of power and 400 Nm of torque, and will pair with an 8AT gearbox.

The electric BMW i5 comes in two variants: Drive 40 and M60 xDrive, both with 81.2kWh battery capacities. The M60 xDrive boasts dual motors with 601 horsepower and 820 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds, and a top speed capped at 230km/h. The launch of the new 5 Series sets BMW to continue its rivalry with Audi’s A6L and Mercedes-Benz’s new E-Class in the mid-to-large luxury sedan market.
