Compared to the previous practice of “covering a quilt” on a large area of the car body, this time, we can see the appearance information all at once. This naturally leads to a mixed reaction – some people are happy, and some are sad, including Shunwei Capital Investment Partner, Hu Zhengnan. Last night, Hu Zhengnan posted on Weibo and lamented, “Hey! I can’t take precautions, and now my head hurts. Why don’t we just start selling it.”

Xiaomi Car Test in Xinjiang Hints at Energy Consumption

Note: In 2021, Hu Zhengnan officially announced his role as an investment partner at Shunwei Capital, responsible for Xiaomi Auto-related business. In August this year, he hinted through Weibo that he went to Xinjiang with executives such as Lei Jun and Lu Weibing to participate in Xiaomi car testing. The test car showed a remaining range of 152 kilometers, with three adults, an ambient temperature of 37°C, and an 85-kilometer destination. After driving the car to the destination, “the minimum energy consumption is 8.8 kilowatt-hours of electricity.” However, some netizens claimed that this journey was mainly downhill, which was relatively beneficial to the energy consumption of electric vehicles.

Before his current role, Hu Zhengnan served as president and senior vice president of Geely Automobile Research Institute and was responsible for the development of Geely’s extensive SEA intelligent evolution experience architecture.

Regarding the progress of Xiaomi cars, Lei Jun, Lu Weibing, and others currently assert that the new car will be officially released next year. In October this year, Bloomberg, Jiemian News, and other media reported that Xiaomi Group was still working hard to obtain relevant approvals from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other car manufacturers. Discussions are still ongoing.

Currently, before a company enters the field of new energy vehicles, it must comply with both the National Development and Reform Commission’s “Administrative Regulations for New Pure Electric Passenger Vehicle Enterprises” and the Tenna’s “New Energy Vehicle Access Regulations.” In other words, it must meet the “dual qualifications” of production and sales.
