The Google Pixel 8 series was recently released equipped with the latest Tensor G3 chip, and Google has announced that it will bring multiple AI functions to the two new phones.

Pixel 8 Features

Firstly, the device recording-to-text sorting function, a Summarize function supporting the local operation, is available on Pixel 8 Pro. Generative AI turns what users record into several bullet points. Foreign media 9to5 Google reported that this feature is set to launch in December.

In the coming months, Pixel 8 Pro devices will support higher-quality Gboard Smart Replies, increasing conversation awareness through LLM.

The gen AI model on Google Pixel 8 Pro supports image super-resolution, intelligently filling the gaps between pixels and predicting details. Apart from sharpening and enhancing image details, this feature allows users to crop images to their desired size.

Additionally, the Call Screen interface will soon provide contextual replies, enabling users to respond via an on-screen button. For instance, when someone calls to confirm an appointment, users can simply click to confirm or cancel the appointment.

The new Call Screen feature will also launch on Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 “later this year.” It will display buttons such as answer and reject, requiring pairing with a mobile phone equipped with a Tensor chip, including Pixel 6 and newer versions.

Next up is Bard’s assistant, set to receive multiple AI upgrades. Google encourages Pixel 8 users to “keep trying.” Google plans to make the feature available “soon to select testers,” with the next step being to offer it as an “opt-in experience in the coming months.”

Simultaneously, Fitbit will use generative artificial intelligence to provide users with personalized guidance, dynamic exercise recommendations, and more context and insights. Fitbit Labs aims to launch early next year, with Pixel phone owners being the first to experience these AI-driven features.

Gen AI will help the Google Home app summarize home events into a simplified view of what has recently happened, providing a quick and easy summary. Users can also find clips and access automation through conversational “Ask Home.” Google plans to roll out these experimental features to subscribers next year.

Google stated that Pixel 8’s Tensor G3 can run twice the number of machine learning models on the device compared to Pixel 6 (the original Tensor chip). Furthermore, Google claims that the Pixel 8 Pro is the first phone capable of directly running its AI model on the device, providing 150 times the computing power of the largest ML model on the Pixel 7.
