According to Gizcoupon’s April 21st report, Samsung is expected to launch the next generation of Galaxy Z Fold 5 / Z Flip 5 foldable smartphones to the public earlier than expected. The official release date is yet to be determined. However, some indications suggest that Samsung will unveil the new foldable devices one month earlier than usual.
Reportedly, Samsung will begin mass-producing the hinges of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 in early June. In the past, Samsung typically started hinge production at the end of June. Samsung plans to release new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, at the end of July. Revegnus revealed this information due to earlier hinge production.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will use a different type of hinge that allows the phone to fold completely flat without leaving any small gaps between the “halves” of the screen. Samsung may require more time to manufacture the new hinge design.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 / Z Flip 5 Features
Leaked information suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 (SM-F946U) will feature a 6.2-inch external display equipped with a 120Hz Super AMOLED internal display. It has a rear camera setup of 50MP+12MP+10MP. In addition, it will come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip and a 4400mAh battery. It may not have an internal S Pen slot, but it will be compatible with the S Pen Fold Edition.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 (SM-F731U) will also feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip and a nearly square 3.4-inch secondary screen (with an aspect ratio of 1:1.038). It allows for interaction with notifications, quick settings, and widgets without opening the phone. You can also use the secondary screen as a better camera viewfinder.
Samsung’s new generation of foldable smartphones adopts new touchscreen technology, both using a waterdrop hinge. Furthermore, they also support IPX8 water resistance.
