Xiaomi previously released the company’s first flagship smartphone supporting eSIM function in the international market. It was the Xiaomi 12T Pro. This product uses the NXP SN110 aggregated eSIM solution. It allows users of hundreds of operators around the world to use the eSIM function on this product.
What is eSIM?
The SN110 series is a highly integrated converged eSIM solution that enables advanced features such as secure mobile transportation, payment, and smart access through Near Field Communication (NFC) and embedded security chips. It also supports GSMA-certified consumer eSIM for cellular connection. This ultra-small, ultra-low-power single-chip solution makes it easier for device manufacturers such as Xiaomi to offer consumers remote SIM card provisioning and over-the-air updates, as well as multiple mobile network operator (MNO) Inbound Services.
Converged eSIM solutions offer several advantages over traditional SIM cards. They include the ability for consumers to use multiple eSIM configurations on the same device, eliminating the need to carry multiple devices or change SIM cards when traveling internationally. In addition, it is easier for device manufacturers to scale to geographic regions that use different service providers.
The SN110 offers high levels of security, including Common Criteria EAL6+ certification, GP (Global Platform), and GSMA certification schemes in compliance with GSMA CC protection regulations. It has been tested against major mobile network operators (MNOs) around the world, helping to ensure interoperability and smooth user experience for consumers, OEMs, and MNOs.
