Mercedes owners, did you register your new battery or just swap it in?
Quote from vincentfoster on October 3, 2026, 15:24Replaced the battery on my C200 last weekend and the car started fine so I thought all was good, but then a friend who owns a workshop told me Mercedes needs the new battery registered through the ECU otherwise it won't charge properly and might die early. Now I'm worried I messed something up because the guy who installed mine just swapped it and drove off, didn't mention anything about programming. The car runs okay so far but it's only been a few days so who knows. I've been reading that this registration thing is real on newer models and if it's not done the alternator keeps charging at the old battery's rate which slowly kills the new one. Looking for expert Mercedes battery replacement in Dubai now just to get this checked, and I came across a page on Battery Zone UAE specifically about Mercedes batteries which explains the whole registration thing better than the shop I used did. Has anyone here actually dealt with this? Is it a must do or one of those things that only matters sometimes? My car is a 2021 model if that makes a difference, and I'd rather pay someone to do it right than find out in a year that I need another battery.
