NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU has finally appeared. Gaming laptops that come with it, and an i9-13900HX, are currently retailed for about $1,400. On the other hand, opting for building a gaming PC with the Core i9-13900K and RTX 5070/Ti will set you back by hardly less than $2,000.

RTX 5070 Ti Specs

The RTX 5070 Ti Laptop is powered by the new Blackwell architecture with the GB205 core, 263 square millimeter die, and an incredible 31.1 billion transistors. Amazingly, the desktop version of the RTX 5070 also uses the same core. Specifications-wise, the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop is very much the same as the desktop RTX 4070, both offering 5,888 CUDA cores and 184 texture units.

However, the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop comes with an additional GPC, which equates to 16 additional ROP units, and L2 cache is raised from 36MB to 48MB. The memory has also been increased to GDDR7, offering 28Gbps speeds and 672GB/s bandwidth.

P.S. We received the Colorful Hidden Star P16 Pro for review, courtesy of NVIDIA. It features an i9-13900HX processor, an RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU with a TGP of 135W, and a total performance release capacity of 190W.

Colorful Hidden Star P16 Pro Appearance

The HiStar P16 Pro features a sci-fi-inspired design. The exterior of the case is matte white, and the middle hinge is covered with a bright reflective material that depends on the viewing angle, creating an effect similar to an RGB light strip.

The laptop dimensions are 361 × 259 × 25.4 mm, and its weight is 2.5 kg, which is relatively lightweight in comparison to gaming notebooks.

The laptop comes with a 16-inch IPS panel, with an aspect ratio of 16:10, resolution of 2560 × 1600, 240Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB color gamut, and a peak brightness of 300 nits.

It comes with a full-size ARGB keyboard, complete with a numeric keypad.

RTX 5070 Ti

It has cooling through a large ventilation grid that is constructed on the bottom (D-side) of the case.

The ports on the rear are left to right: a lone USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, a power connector, a lone HDMI 2.1 port, and a Gigabit Ethernet port.

There’s a USB 3.2 Gen1 port (5Gbps) and a 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack on the left.

RTX 5070 Ti

There’s a USB 3.2 Gen2 port (10Gbps) and a Type-C port capable of supporting PD fast charging and video output on the right.

The laptop comes with a 230W adapter (20V/11.5A).

What’s inside

The photo below is a picture of the internal layout without the cooling assembly in place.

The internal layout internally is tidy and organized — all but an apparently routed speaker cable, the rest being carefully hidden.

Two fans, five heat pipes, and four exhaust ports make up the cooling system which is adequate enough to support the full 190W performance level of the laptop.

Under the CPU, two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots are present. A single 16GB Crucial DDR5 5600MHz module with timings of 46-45-45-90 CR2 is installed. It is advisable to add another memory module to support dual-channel performance for the best results.

3. 3DMark Benchmark Tests

3DMark Fire Strike

In the 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme test at 2K resolution, the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop achieved a graphics score of 22,112 points. The top core temperature during testing was 81°C, the top core clock was 2550MHz, and the top power consumption was 141W.

In the 4K-resolution 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra benchmark test, the graphics score was 11,137 points, the maximum core temperature was 81°C, a slightly higher peak core frequency of 2557MHz, and the maximum power consumption of 140W.

3DMark Time Spy

In the 2K-resolution 3DMark Time Spy test, the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop registered 17,649 points. The highest core temperature was 86°C, the highest core frequency 2490MHz, and the highest power consumption 140W.

In the 4K-resolution 3DMark Time Spy Extreme test, the graphics score was 8,447 points. The highest core temperature in this test was 83°C, the highest core frequency 2400MHz, and the highest power consumption 136W.

DLSS 4 Game Test: Shattering the Desktop RTX 4080

We tested four supported games for DLSS 4 here: Star Wars: Outlaws, Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and Hogwarts Legacy.

All tests were conducted at 4K resolution with both DLSS 4 and ray tracing enabled.

Tested Games:

Star Wars: Outlaws

Alan Wake 2

Cyberpunk 2077

Hogwarts Legacy

Summary of Test Results:

At 4K with ray tracing maxed to the highest setting, the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop’s 12GB of VRAM can at times be limiting. In games such as Alan Wake 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, for instance, frame rates dipped into single digits when ray tracing was fully enabled.

But with DLSS 4’s multi-frame generation technology, which displays 4K images at a lower internal resolution, VRAM limitations were avoided. After DLSS 4 was turned on, performance improved by over 1000% on average.

Surprisingly, with DLSS 4 turned on, the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop outperformed the desktop RTX 4080 by approximately 10% in frame rates.

Conclusion

Gaming Performance

1080P resolution:

  • Powered by the Ryzen 9 9800X3D, the RTX 4070 Super outperformed the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop by 28%.
  • Comparatively, the RTX 5080 Laptop, featuring the Ultra 9 275HX processor, was only 15% faster than the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop.

2K resolution:

  • The RTX 4070 Super’s performance advantage narrowed to 22%, while the RTX 5080 Laptop extended its lead to 22%.

4K resolution:

  • The RTX 4070 Super was 19% faster, while the RTX 5080 Laptop had a 27% performance advantage.

The 135W RTX 5070 Ti Laptop delivers about 85% of the performance of the 220W RTX 4070 Super. But the latter has 1,280 more CUDA cores.

The desktop RTX 5070 Ti is 64% more powerful than the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop.

About DLSS 4

Currently, there are over 100 games that support DLSS 4 technology, and this number continues to grow steadily. DLSS 4 not only improves frame rates significantly but also reduces GPU load by generating high-quality frames using AI. This helps mitigate limitations related to VRAM capacity and raw rendering power, especially at high resolutions like 4K.

Thanks to DLSS 4 multi-frame generation, the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop can render 4K gaming experiences much more efficiently. In our tests, enabling DLSS 4 resulted in performance improvements exceeding 1000% in some scenarios. This was especially noticeable in demanding games like Alan Wake 2 and Cyberpunk 2077.

DLSS 4 lets the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop outperform a desktop RTX 4080 by about 10% in certain tests.
