Android 15 DP2 version introduces a redesigned volume control panel, bringing a major UI overhaul. So far, Google has rolled out two Android 15 developer preview versions, giving us a glimpse of what’s to come in the stable release this fall.

According to discoveries by Android aficionado Mishaal Rahman, Android 15 will feature a completely redesigned volume panel, with the adjustment slider transforming from a thin bar to a thicker one, and adding support for one-tap mute.

Rahman notes that the panel will only display the media slider when there’s content playing, otherwise, it will show all five controls. Each slider has a dot at the end to indicate the maximum volume for each option. Moreover, evidence of attributes like “noise control” and spatial audio was found in the revamped volume panel, though they’re currently inactive.

Importantly, the new panel also includes a one-touch mute function. Users can simply tap the corresponding button to quickly mute the device without going through cumbersome volume adjustment steps.

In terms of details, the text on the volume sliders will cleverly adjust as users increase or decrease the volume, ensuring the slider names are always visible.
