Today, Apple unveiled the latest versions of the 2024 Apple MacBook Air. The upgraded 13-inch and 15-inch models with M3 chips are now available, starting at 8,999 yuan (about $1,250).
The 13-inch MacBook Air with an 8+256GB M3 chip is priced at 8,999 yuan (about $1,250). The 8+512GB version costs 10,499 yuan (about $1458), and the 16+512GB variant is available for 11,999 yuan (about $1666).
Let’s shift our focus to the 15-inch MacBook Air equipped with the M3 chip. Priced at 10,499 yuan (about $1458), the 8+256GB model stands out with its storage capacity. In contrast, the 8+512GB version commands a higher price of 11,999 yuan (about $1666). Additionally, the 16+512GB variant comes in at 13,499 yuan (about $1875).
The key upgrade lies in the M3 chip, marking it as Apple’s most powerful Air notebook to date. Notably, it stands as the industry’s first slim and lightweight notebook featuring a cutting-edge 3nm chip.
The M3 chip boasts an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, totaling 25 billion transistors—5 billion more than its predecessor, the M2, with a 25% increase. Offering 24GB unified memory, it outpaces the M2 by 20% and delivers a remarkable maximum battery life of 18 hours.
Moreover, the M3 chip introduces a new GPU architecture, featuring the industry’s pioneering dynamic caching function. It also introduces new rendering capabilities, including hardware-accelerated ray tracing and grid shading, making it the first time available on Mac. Codec support includes H.264, HEVC, ProRes, ProRes RAW, AV1, and others.
In terms of design and features, the new 2024 Apple MacBook Air retains the narrow bezel notch screen solution, a 1080p front camera, and support for Touch ID. Equipped with four speakers, it comes in four colors: silver, space gray, starlight color, and midnight, and includes a MagSafe magnetic charging cable matching the chosen color.
