Today, Tesla upgraded the Model Y with the latest HW4.0 automatic assisted driving hardware. Following the October 2023 upgrade, the Model Y will feature HW 4.0 along with new 19-inch wheels.
Tesla removed the original Chinese Red and Cold Silver car paints from the lineup. Instead, the company introduced Quick Silver, Flame Red, and Starry Sky Gray. The limited-time New Year offers prices these new options at 12,000 yuan (about $1689), while the original Pearl White and Deep Sea Blue paint maintain their matching price of 8,000 yuan (about $1126).
Tesla China has started a limited-time event. Orders placed before February 29th qualify for benefits. The offer applies to any Model Y/3 model, including designated versions. Customers get a 2,000 yuan (about $281) discount on all paid car paints. The discount reduces the price difference before delivery. Delivery must be scheduled before March 31st to avail of the offer.
Additionally, Tesla’s official website has been updated to unveil the “New Year Surprise” event. Purchasing specific versions of the Model Y entitles buyers to an 8,000 yuan (about $1126) cash discount. Moreover, for an additional 2,000 yuan (about $281), customers can select new car paints such as the recently introduced “Quick Silver.”
Tesla China’s official website maintains the original Model Y prices: the rear-wheel drive version starts at 258,900 yuan (about $36452), the long-range version at 299,900 yuan (about $42224), and the high-performance version at 363,900 yuan (about $51235).
Post HW 4.0 upgrade, the Tesla Model Y will boast “5 times increased chip computing power,” a maximum detection distance of up to 424 meters, and support for a 5-megapixel camera. This translates to “9.2 times travel safety” and facilitates features like automatic assisted navigation, driving, steering, emergency braking, side collision warning, forward collision warning, and automatic high beam.
The new generation of customized models appears to feature fewer cameras and eliminates the ultrasonic sensor. It opts for a pure vision + neural vision network solution. Importantly, the old Model Y with an ultrasonic radar will introduce a 3D parking assist function.
