On January 30, news revealed that OPPO and its sub-brand OnePlus faced business troubles in the European market due to prolonged patent disputes with Nokia. Last week, OPPO and Nokia swiftly reached a global patent licensing agreement, prompting OnePlus to re-enter affected countries.
OnePlus Germany’s official website is now actively selling its foldable phone, OnePlus Open. Additionally, pre-order pages for OnePlus12 and 12R are live. This significant step signifies OnePlus’s official return to business in the German market. Meanwhile, OPPO and Vivo’s German official websites still indicate the non-availability of their products, but industry expectations lean towards their resumption of sales activities following the recent agreement with Nokia.
The impact of this patent dispute was particularly profound for OPPO, with the sales ban taking effect before the launch of its flagship phone, Find X6 Pro. This posed significant challenges to the company’s market plans.
Although OPPO introduced the Find X7 Ultra in China, there are no plans to bring this flagship to the European market due to the existing patent agreement with Nokia. Nevertheless, the successful resolution of the patent dispute is expected to gradually clarify OPPO’s future strategic positioning in the European market.
