Blogger @数码闲聊站 recently leaked information, suggesting that Xiaomi is poised to launch a new phone with an under-screen front camera this year, but it won’t be part of the MIX 5 series. Today, additional details about this upcoming device have also come to light.
Firstly, the blogger revealed that Xiaomi’s new under-screen model will likely feature the Snapdragon 8 series chip. Impressively, the phone is currently undergoing tests for an “invisible screen bar” which aims to achieve ultra-narrow bezels on all four sides, coupled with a dual under-display camera and a 4X zoom telephoto lens. The “invisible screen bar” refers to eliminating a layer in the screen structure, enhancing the visual effect of narrower bezels, and achieving a higher screen-to-body ratio.
Meanwhile, various platforms have spotted this mysterious new Xiaomi device, though its specific model remains elusive. For instance, a mysterious phone named “Xiaomi Suiren” surfaced in the GeekBench benchmarking database. It boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 16GB of RAM, and scores of 2336 and 6837 in single-core and multi-core tests respectively, under version 6.1.0.
The device that appeared in the benchmark database carries the codename “suiren,” which refers to a mythical figure in ancient legends. Sparrowsnews, an international tech media outlet, speculates that the official name of this Xiaomi phone is still unknown, but it might be a flagship model featuring an under-display front camera.
Earlier, the GSMChina website found a new device in the IMEI database with model number 2503AVP01C, which is not Xiaomi Mix 5. However, they couldn’t confirm its specific name.
