Intel is rolling out its 14th-generation Intel Core i7-14790F and i5-14490F with exciting updates. This release includes not only the standard models but also special versions tailored for the Chinese mainland market.

Starting with the Intel Core i7-14790F. This processor holds onto its predecessor’s core configuration – a 6+4 10-core and 16-thread setup, along with a 24MB level 3 cache. However, it ups the ante with a slight frequency boost, jumping from 4.8GHz to 4.9GHz. Despite these enhancements, the i5-14490F comes with a modest price hike, now starting at 1,659 yuan (about $233), which is 150 yuan more than the previous model.

Moving on to the Intel Core i7-14790F, this processor builds upon the foundation laid by the Intel Core i7-13790F. It maintains the robust 8+8 16-core and 24-thread structure, but there’s a noticeable improvement in the cache department – a jump from 33MB to an impressive 36MB. Moreover, the maximum frequency has also seen an uptick, rising from 5.2GHz to 5.4GHz. In terms of pricing, the i7-14790F starts at 2,909 yuan (about $409), marking a 200 yuan increase from its predecessor.

When we take a step back and analyze these updates, it’s clear that the Intel Core i7-14790F stands out as a particularly smart choice, offering significant improvements for a reasonable price increase. However, the Intel Core i5-13490F seems a bit less appealing. If you’re eyeing this model, it might be wise to wait for a potential price drop to get the best value for your money.
