The Xiaomi 14 series has been on the market for a while, drawing significant attention, especially from photography enthusiasts. Now, all eyes are on the impending launch of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, the flagship model in the series. Recently, a mysterious new device named “Xiaomi Suiren” surfaced on the Geekbench benchmarking platform, believed to be the 14 Ultra.
The codenames for the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are “Houji” and “Shennong,” respectively. Meanwhile, the upcoming Mi 14 Ultra has the codename “Aurora.” This name, drawn from Roman mythology, represents the goddess of dawn. The codename of the equipment that appeared in the benchmark database this time is “suiren”, which is the Suiren clan in mythology and legend.
The internal codename “Suiren” of this phone is quite intriguing. It refers to a legendary figure in ancient Chinese history, known for inventing the technique of drilling wood for fire. This heritage hints at the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s expected feature – satellite communication capabilities. This technology, enabled by miniaturized chips, allows two-way communication even in areas without terrestrial network coverage, making it extremely practical.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen3 processor and 16GB of memory, this device impresses in performance. It scores an impressive 2336 in single-core tests and 6850 in multi-core tests. Given that these results come from an early engineering sample, there’s room for improvement. Expectations are high for even better performance in the final production version.
In terms of imaging capabilities, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is set for a significant upgrade. Reports suggest it will feature a 50-megapixel Sony LYT900 sensor as its primary camera, boasting a large 1-inch CMOS sensor. The 14 Ultra will feature three additional 50-megapixel cameras, covering ultra-wide, telephoto, and periscope zoom lenses. These cameras will provide comprehensive shooting capabilities. Moreover, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will claim the title of the most powerful photography-oriented Android flagship of 2024, thanks to its variable aperture technology.
