Apple App Store recently introduced a novel functionality termed “Associated pricing,” aimed at empowering developers to attract a broader subscriber base and enhance user retention. This innovative attribute enables developers to offer reduced rates to subscribers currently engaged with a different subscription service.

As outlined in a communication released by Apple on its developer portal, the Apple App Store subscription services will now feature Associated pricing. Developers extend discounted offers to users who are concurrently subscribed to other services. It’s important to note that this capability extends beyond the offerings of a single developer; two distinct developers can also collaboratively apply it. For instance, in this scenario, subscribers of “Ocean Journal” can access the “Mountain Climber” application at a reduced rate of $4.99 per month instead of the original price of $5.99.

According to Apple, users will effortlessly discover these discounted subscription plans within the app, across non-platform marketing channels, and in specific sections of the App Store during promotional periods. Concurrently, Apple pledges to guide developers through the necessary setup processes, ensuring users seamlessly enjoy the advantages of “Associated pricing” and receive an optimal purchasing experience. Currently, Apple is trialing the new feature, and they invite developers to register for detailed information scheduled for release in January.
