As the flagship within the P series, current insights mainly focus on the camera and external design. The latest information from blogger @数码闲聊站 suggests that the lens configuration of the P70 series is notably distinctive. One interpretation draws parallels to the lens arrangement seen in the P60 series, where the Deco transforms into a triangular layout. Additionally, blogger @SmartPikachu notes that the P70’s module exhibits minimal changes, being slightly broader than its predecessor. The new phone’s camera module is expected to undergo minor adjustments collectively, compared to the P60.
The preceding P60 generation adopted a vertically aligned triple-camera setup that resembled an expression for its distinct appearance. The central camera was the largest, flanked by two lenses positioned above and below, creating a recognizable design.
P70 Standardizes on Triple-Camera Layout
Regarding camera specifications, we expect that the primary cameras of the Huawei P70 and P70 Pro will incorporate the OmniVision OV50H sensor, a popular sensor with 50 million pixels and a size of 1/1.3 inches. This sensor supports horizontal and vertical four-pixel phase focusing, delivering excellent overall performance. The standard version employs a 5P lens for telephoto, while the Pro opts for a 6P lens.
The main camera of the P70 Art is likely to incorporate the Sony IMX989 sensor, also renowned among top-tier flagship devices. However, rumors are suggesting the use of the Howe-launched OV50K sensor, boasting a substantial 1-inch size. Details are scarce, but speculation suggests that Huawei’s return to the Kirin platform means the upcoming mid-range Nova 12 will also incorporate Kirin processors. This hints at potential chip-related surprises from the P70 series.
Referring to the pricing strategy of the previous generation, the Huawei P60 standard version commenced at 4,488 yuan, the P60 Pro at 6,988 yuan, and the P60 Art at 8,988 yuan. Although the P60 series lacked notable storage advantages, the Mate 60 series trend suggests an inclination towards larger storage capacities for the new P70 series.
