The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 has been officially released, with an introductory price of 1299 yuan (about $177), and is now open for pre-order.
Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2: Next-Generation Noise-Reducing Fully Automatic Locking Mechanism
Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 utilizes Xiaomi’s proprietary next-generation noise-reducing fully automatic locking mechanism, which integrates multiple sensors within the lock body to monitor the lock’s status in real time. It also features a direct-insertion type C-grade lock core that runs through the lock body structure.
Compared to the first-generation fully automatic locking mechanism, Xiaomi’s self-developed noise-reducing fully automatic locking mechanism reduces door closing noise by 12dB and door opening noise by 13 dB. Additionally, it allows users to disable the alarm sounds when in “Do Not Disturb” mode.
In terms of unlocking methods, Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 supports various options, including AI fingerprint recognition, long-term passwords, periodic/one-time passwords, Bluetooth, Xiaomi smartphones, Xiaomi smartwatches, encrypted NFC access cards, and mechanical keys. Its new-generation semiconductor fingerprint recognition technology, includes built-in AI algorithms and extensive deep learning, improving with each use. The official specifications state that fingerprint recognition speed is ≤0.5 seconds, with a false recognition rate of ≤0.001% and a false rejection rate of ≤0.52%.
Mi Home Security Chip for Local Encryption
Moreover, users can pre-set an emergency fingerprint. In the event of a crisis, they can silently call preset phone numbers using the emergency fingerprint function. The Mi Home security chip equips the Xiaomi Smart Lock 2, locally encrypting and storing fingerprints, passwords, and other sensitive data, thus making it inaccessible for external reading or decryption.
What’s more convenient is that the lock supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi dual protocols, allowing remote access to lock alerts and operation logs through the Mi Home app without the need for a Bluetooth Mesh gateway device. Users can also share lock device management permissions with family members for easier family lock management.
In terms of battery life, 8 dry batteries power the lock, lasting up to 1 year. It also offers low-battery reminders. If the battery becomes completely depleted, you can use a Type-C external power bank to temporarily unlock the door for emergency power.
