Xiaomi Zhang Guoquan, in a recent statement, announced that the CPU in the Xiaomi 14, although supporting only a 64-bit architecture, seamlessly runs 32-bit applications on new devices through the built-in 32-bit translation kernel in HyperOS.

In essence, Xiaomi 13 can natively run 32-bit applications using its CPU’s small core, while Xiaomi 14 achieves 32-bit application compatibility with its decoder running on the big core. Even if the CPU does not support 32-bit, it still provides compatibility support for 32-bit applications, and the performance is actually better.

Furthermore, Xiaomi engineers analyzed third-party applications that annually face compatibility issues and identified a significant group of such apps with similar modification needs. These apps tend to encounter crashes and usability problems before adapting to new systems. To address this, Xiaomi developed the CompatEngine engine, which does not rely on third-party app developers for compatibility adaptations. They have verified that over 90% of unadapted applications can function normally with this engine.

According to Xiaomi’s official release schedule for HyperOS, the Chinese models will begin receiving the official version as early as December this year, while global models are set to receive it in the first quarter of 2024. For more information on HyperOS.
