According to information from the State Intellectual Property Office’s official website, the Xiaomi Motors Display Patent application for the “display assembly and vehicle” was submitted on November 11, 2022, and received authorization on July 18, 2023.
The patent announcement highlights a display screen assembly incorporating a translation mechanism to facilitate movement. The translation mechanism drives a first rotation mechanism, which then moves the display screen, enabling it to shift between the driver’s and co-pilot’s positions. This feature gives occupants a clear view of the display screen and meets their needs while lying down. The innovative design aims to provide convenient usage and adaptability for occupants.
Xiaomi Motors Display Patent
The announcement’s “Instructions” section notes the growing demand for new energy vehicles and advanced technologies in the automotive industry. The multi-dimensional sports display and intelligent driving systems are the future trends for bright car interiors. As vehicles become more technologically advanced, the multi-dimensional sports display can better attract users.
Currently, most vehicle display screens are fixed, and while some may be movable, they fail to meet occupants’ needs when they lie down. This limitation prompted the development of the display screen assembly described in the Xiaomi Motors Display Patent.
Xiaomi Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. is actively pursuing automobile-related patents. They have over 700 applications, and more than 360 of these have been authorized. These Xiaomi Motors Display Patents encompass various aspects of vehicle technology, including automatic driving, early warning systems, radar, and vehicle control.
Xiaomi plans to launch its car in the first half of 2024. They aim to enter the autonomous driving industry that same year.
Earlier this year, FAW Fuwei, a Xiaomi Automobile supplier, revealed an active collaboration with Xiaomi. Many subsidiary companies are part of Xiaomi Automobile’s procurement team. The quotation process for Xiaomi’s first model has already been completed.

During the financial report conference call in May, Lu Weibing, partner and president of Xiaomi Group, expressed that Xiaomi’s car manufacturing is progressing smoothly and has entered the R&D acceleration stage. Testing is planned for summer and winter to ensure the vehicle’s performance under various conditions.
