On June 28th, Gizcoupon reported that it appears that the Full Self-Driving (FSD) software of Tesla is poised to exit its “beta testing” phase. In a recent tweet by CEO Elon Musk, he revealed that Tesla FSD V12 would no longer be labeled as a “beta” version upon release.

Musk made this comment in response to a long-time user of the FSD beta version who jokingly suggested that FSD Beta 12 might be released “later this year.” In a simple response, Musk stated, “Tesla FSD V12 won’t be a beta.”

The FSD beta testing program was initiated in October 2020 and has been continuously updated. With the introduction of FSD Beta V11, FSD has already been applied to driving in city areas and on highways. Several updates have been released thus far for V11.

Elon Musk’s statement is undoubtedly exciting. However, it is possible that he simply meant Tesla will no longer use the “beta” designation for the FSD suite. After all, Tesla Autopilot is also a product in the testing phase. But is not referred to as the “Autopilot beta.”

Tesla has been striving to refine the FSD beta version. Moreover, the Dojo supercomputer is expected to be in production in July. There may be significant improvements to Tesla FSD in the near future.

Previously, Gizcoupon reported that on June 16th, during his participation at the Viva Technology conference in Paris, France, Musk stated that Tesla is close to achieving fully autonomous driving vehicles. Autonomous driving is a “major driver” of the brand’s market value.
