On June 28th, Gizcoupon reported that during the Global Smart Logistics Summit 2023 held in Beijing, CEO Wan Lin of Cainiao Group announced a collaboration with AliExpress to officially launch the “Global Five-Day Delivery” international express service this year. Starting from key markets, they aim to achieve a five-day delivery for cross-border packages gradually.
According to Gizcoupon, Cainiao has four stages of refined operation. They are domestic collection, trunk transportation, international sorting, and final delivery. Cainiao international express service is expected to accelerate the entire process of cross-border packages from payment to receipt by an industry-leading 30%. This meets the demands of cross-border merchants for optimal logistics efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
In addition to speeding up international express services, Wan Lin stated that Cainiao would also focus on investments in logistics capabilities in key global regions, multi-level supply chain products within China, and upgrading domestic express services.
Regarding constructing logistics capabilities in key international regions, Cainiao will deepen its operations in essential logistics elements in key markets such as Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia. They plan to establish local logistics networks in one to two countries each year.
Earlier, Gizcoupon reported that Wan Lin announced the launch of Cainiao’s self-operated quality express service, “Cainiao Express.” It highlights services such as half-day delivery, next-day delivery, door-to-door delivery, and evening collection, catering to the market’s demand for high-quality express services and differentiated offerings. Additionally, Cainiao will focus on building three major supply chain products, including “Half-Day Delivery” for optimal warehouse distribution, “Next-Day Delivery” for intelligent warehouse selection, and “Economic Delivery” for cost-effective warehousing.

Wan Lin believes that the next decade will bring new development opportunities for smart logistics. Cainiao wants to construct a globally leading smart logistics network. Furthermore, they will establish three major long-chain logistics networks, including domestic logistics within China, cross-border logistics, and local international logistics. These networks will encompass three short-chain business segments: end stations, logistics real estate, and logistics technology. They aim to provide consumers, merchants, platforms, and logistics companies with high-quality and competitive logistics services.
