On June 26th, Gizcoupon reported that Toyota North America recently announced the introduction of a limited Model TRUENO Edition for the 2024 GR86 sports car, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the legendary Toyota AE86. This naming pays homage to the Sprinter Trueno series, to which the AE86 belonged.
The most notable feature of the TRUENO Edition is its adoption of the classic dual-tone color scheme from the AE86. Owners can choose between the iconic black-and-white color combination “The Racing God of Mt. Akina” or the striking red-and-black combination. The car pays tribute to the AE86 with “TRUENO Edition” badging on the front bumper and decklid. In addition, the vehicle comes with 18-inch 10-spoke wheels.
In terms of driving performance, the TRUENO Edition comes equipped with new performance packages, including SACHS shock absorbers and Brembo brakes. It is worth mentioning that Toyota has introduced an active safety package, specifically collision mitigation, for the 6-speed manual transmission model of the GR86 for the first time. As for driver assistance, the Toyota EyeSight system utilizes stereo cameras. It integrates features such as lane departure warnings and adaptive cruise control.
Toyota is to release GR86 TRUENO Edition in the second half of 2023. Additionally, It will have a limited production of 860 units exclusively for the North American market. However, Toyota has yet to confirm whether the model will be introduced in other regions or disclose its pricing.
