On June 26th, Gizcoupon reported that Bentley, the British luxury car brand, is set to introduce its first all-electric vehicle with autonomous driving technology, as reported by the British automotive magazine “AutoCar.”

Bentley Electric Vehicle

Adrian Hallmark, the CEO of Bentley, revealed that the vehicle would incorporate Mobileye’s SuperVision system. This system comprises 11 cameras and will also be utilized in the upcoming Porsche Macan EV. Initially, the car will feature semi-autonomous driving capabilities on highways. In the future, it will be possible to achieve fully autonomous driving through over-the-air software updates.

The first electric Bentley is expected to make its official debut in 2025. It is speculated to be a sporty two-door coupe rather than the previously rumored high-riding sedan or crossover. Hallmark had previously disclosed that this electric vehicle would boast a power output of up to 1400 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 1.5 seconds (approximately 96 kilometers per hour). Such performance figures seem unlikely for a crossover vehicle. However, Hallmark also mentioned that Bentley would release a “slower” version to cater to customers who prefer a less extreme driving experience.

Between 2025 and 2030, Bentley plans to introduce one new electric vehicle per year. The company is also investing $3 billion to transform its factory in Crewe comprehensively. This move meets the needs of the electric age.

Meanwhile, Rolls-Royce, another renowned British luxury car manufacturer, is set to unveil its first electric vehicle this autumn. Named Spectre, this electric car is a luxurious coupe based on the Phantom and Cullinan platforms.
