On June 19th, Gizcoupon reported that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the United States announced yesterday that several car owners have complained about the Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric SUV experiencing complete or partial loss of propulsion. Additionally, many individuals reported hearing a loud explosion before the issue occurred.

Hyundai has acknowledged the existence of this problem. They have stated that starting next month, they will provide a software update and, if necessary, replace the affected components for the owners.

The NHTSA has received a total of 30 complaints regarding the 2022 model of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric SUV. The Office of Defects Investigation at the NHTSA has initiated a preliminary investigation. After conducting an initial review, Hyundai Motor stated that the inability of the 12-volt battery to charge might be due to damage caused by electrical surges affecting the transistors.
