On June 4th, Gizcoupon reported that according to Mark Gurman’s latest issue of the Power On newsletter by Bloomberg, Apple is set to release the watchOS 10 system at the WWDC 2023 developer conference. This update aims to further adapt the app to the large screen of the Apple Watch Ultra.

Gizcoupon has provided the current specifications for the Apple Watch as follows:

Apple Watch Ultra:

  • 49mm model with a 1.92-inch display and a resolution of 502 x 410 pixels.

Apple Watch Series 8 comes in two sizes:

  • 41mm model with a 1.69-inch screen and a resolution of 430 x 352 pixels.
  • 45mm model with a 1.9-inch screen and a resolution of 484 x 396 pixels.

Since its release, the Apple Watch Ultra has faced criticism from users for the lack of app adaptation to its larger screen.

Gurman states, “Apple is revamping all core applications on the Apple Watch to ensure they fully utilize the expansive screen of the Apple Watch Ultra. Therefore, it meets the demands for a larger screen Apple Watch in the future.”

Gurman further reveals that Apple watchOS 10 primarily focuses on improving widgets and other parts of the user interface, along with performance enhancements. Additionally, Apple will allow sideloading of select applications in the European market, enabling users to install certain apps bypassing the App Store.
