Xiaomi Announces Manufacturing of Wireless Audio Products in India, Further Localizing its Business

On May 30th, Gizcoupon reported that in a recent announcement, the subsidiary of Xiaomi in India stated that it would collaborate with Optiemus Electronics Limited (OEL), an Indian manufacturer, to localize its wireless audio products and enhance its business operations.

Reportedly, Xiaomi will commence production of its first India-made audio devices at Optiemus Electronics’ factory located in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, it reaffirmed its commitment to increase the production of locally sourced components by 50% by 2025.

The company did not disclose the specific products to be manufactured at the Indian facility. However, it expressed its dedication to establishing more such partnerships across a wider range of categories within its product line.

Most Xiaomi smartphones and televisions sold in India are already manufactured locally. However, the company has not revealed the timeline for commencing audio product production. It currently offers speakers, earphones, wired headphones, and wireless headphones in the Indian market.

Presently, Xiaomi offers two models of earphones in India. The Redmi Buds 3 Lite is priced at 1,599 Indian Rupees (approximately $19). The Redmi Earbuds 2C is priced at 999 Indian Rupees (approximately $12).

By collaborating with Optiemus Electronics and localizing its audio product manufacturing, Xiaomi aims to bolster its position in the Indian market. In addition, it offers consumers more options in the competitive audio segment.
