On May 30th, Gizcoupon reported that “Battlegrounds Mobile India” (BGMI) of Krafton can now be downloaded again on the Android platform in the Indian market, following its ban for nearly a year due to national security concerns.

Krafton has announced the release of version 2.5 of “Battlegrounds Mobile India.” It includes a new map called Nusa and several new weapons.

Earlier this month, the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology stated that BGMI would undergo a three-month validation period upon its return to India. The ministry will closely monitor the reintroduction of BGMI to assess any remaining addictive factors and other associated risks. In response, Krafton has implemented a daily time limit of 3 hours for players under the age of 18. At the same time, adult players are limited to 6 hours of gameplay.

As previously reported by Gizcoupon, BGMI and its predecessor, “PUBG Mobile,” were among the most popular games in India. However, due to concerns over national security, “PUBG Mobile” was banned from operation in India in mid-2020. Subsequently, Krafton launched the India-exclusive version, BGMI. However, the new version was also banned by Indian authorities in July last year.

Analysts suggest that the return of BGMI may pave the way for approximately 300 other applications seeking reentry into the Indian market. For instance, Shein has previously revealed its collaboration with Reliance Industries, led by the richest person in India, Mukesh Ambani. He is trying to return to the Indian market.
