On May 19th, Gizcoupon reported that during last night’s Huawei Summer All-Scenario New Product Launch Event, Huawei released the MatePad Air. It claims to be “Stylish and Sophisticated,” redefining productivity. This tablet boasts the industry’s first 3:2 aspect ratio screen. It is also Huawei’s first tablet to support a 144Hz ultra-high refresh rate and the world’s first tablet to receive HDR Vivid certification.
The Huawei MatePad Air is available in five color options: Feather Sand Purple, Field Green, Galaxy Blue, Cloud Brocade White, and Obsidian Black. Additionally, it features an innovative frosted glass design that offers a warm and sophisticated tactile experience. The tablet weighs 508g and measures a slim 6.4mm in thickness.
The Huawei MatePad Air sports an 11.5-inch 2.8K LCD display with a 3:2 aspect ratio. It supports a 144Hz refresh rate with adaptive sync ranging from 30Hz to 144Hz. The screen delivers a brightness of 500 nits and supports the P3 wide color gamut, achieving HDR Vivid certification. With self-developed game frame insertion technology, it introduces a 144Hz mode for popular games like Peacekeeper Elite and Honor of Kings, as well as a 90Hz mode for the game Genshin Impact (for the Chinese version).
In terms of performance, the Huawei MatePad Air is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 mobile platform. Moreover, it incorporates an 8-layer high thermal conductivity graphite heat dissipation system. It houses an 8300mAh battery that provides up to 12 hours of local 1080P video playback. It also supports 40W fast charging.
The Huawei MatePad Air utilizes Huawei’s base station-level antenna technology, which significantly enhances signal strength in various scenarios, surpassing the signal strength of competing devices by approximately 1x.
On the software front, the Huawei MatePad Air supports a new PC application engine. It features the exclusive PC-grade WPS Office and is accompanied by the all-new detachable Smart Magnetic Keyboard. Additionally, it is the first Huawei tablet to come pre-installed with the professional academic reading software CAJViewer. Huawei Notepad has also received upgrades, including new self-developed brushes, real-time voice transcription, categorized management, and continuous data backup.
Regarding the operating system, the Huawei MatePad Air runs on HarmonyOS 3.1. Furthermore, it supports intelligent features such as Super Terminal, multi-screen collaboration, multi-device communication and sharing, and Super Transfer Station.
The Huawei MatePad Air started its pre-sale on May 18th at 20:30 (Beijing time) and will be officially available for purchase starting from May 25th at 00:00. The pricing details are as follows:
