Gizcoupon reported on May 12th that Sony Xperia 1 V had been officially released. This is the latest flagship smartphone from the company in 2023. Its 12+256GB version price is 8999 yuan (approximately $1295), and its 12+512GB version price is 9799 yuan (approximately $1410). In addition, it comes in three colors: Ink Black, Mist Silver, and Ash Green. It is now available for pre-order and will be launched in early June.

This new smartphone has Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Additionally, it features a 6.5-inch 21:9 4K (3860×1644) screen without punch holes. It supports real-time HDR technology (HDR 10, HLG), equivalent to 10-bit, D65 white point calibration, 1000000:1 contrast ratio, X1 mobile version image engine, CineAlta master mode, and BT.2020 color standard (incomplete coverage). Sony Xperia 1 V camera

In terms of imaging, the device uses the IMX888 main camera (24mm, 1/1.35, 52MP full aspect ratio, 48MP effective pixels, 12MP static output, 2.24um pixel size, F1.9). In addition, it uses a brand new Exmor T dual-layer pixel stack imaging sensor, with the first layer being a photodiode and the second layer being a pixel transistor. The two work together to capture more light and reduce image noise. In low-light environments, the noise control level of Xperia 1 V has increased by about 2 times compared to the previous generation. It also cooperates with Sony’s multi-frame synthesis noise reduction processing to achieve ultra-clear, low-light shooting.

In addition to the main camera, the device is also equipped with a 12MP IMX563 ultra-wide-angle (1/2.5 Exmor RS, 16mm, F2.2) lens and a 12MP 85-125mm IMX650 F2.3-2.6 telephoto lens. Its front camera uses a 23mm IMX663 F2.0 lens. All rear lenses support 4K HDR 120fps video recording, eye autofocus, and real-time tracking autofocus. The front camera also has a 24mm wide-angle and 1200w pixels. It supports 4K HDR 30fps video recording. The exclusive Zeiss quality lens with T* coating has been tailored for this device.

In addition, the Sony Xperia 1 V also features the same S-Cinetone color style filter as the ZV-E1. Therefore, it allows for cinematic videos without the need for post-production color correction.

Specifications

In terms of other specifications, the Sony Xperia 1 V has increased its graphene heat dissipation material area by 60% compared to the Xperia 1 IV. It also adopts a new system scheduling and power management scheme. It features a built-in 5000mAh battery that supports 33W PD3.0 fast charging and Qi wireless charging. Furthermore, it has IP65/68 dust and water resistance.

The phone measures 164.68 x 70.89 x 8.54mm (including the camera part, which is slightly thinner than the previous generation at 165mm long and 71mm wide). It weighs 187g, which is similar to the Xperia 1 IV.

Apart from the Chinese version, Sony has also released this model in the global market. The Hong Kong version is priced at HKD 9699 (approximately $1235 as of Gizcoupon’s note) and HKD 10499 (approximately $1337). In addition, the 512GB version will officially go on sale at the end of May, while the 256GB version will be available in mid-June.
