Starting from May 29th, 2023, Beijing time, the recall will cover a total of 1,104,622 vehicles, including some imported Model S, Model X, and Model 3 vehicles produced between January 12, 2019, and April 24, 2023, as well as Chinese-made Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.

The affected vehicles in this recall do not allow drivers to choose an energy recovery braking strategy. They may not provide sufficient warnings for drivers who have deeply pressed the accelerator pedal for an extended period of time. Moreover, it could increase the risk of collisions and pose a safety hazard.

According to the announcement, this recall was initiated by the State Administration for Market Regulation of China in response to a defect investigation. Tesla (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. plan to push newly developed functions for vehicles within the recall range through remote vehicle upgrade Over-the-Air (OTA) technology. Features include:

  • Providing options to allow drivers to select the energy recovery braking intensity on vehicles that do not have this option.
  • Adjusting the factory default settings for energy recovery braking strategies.
  • Issuing warnings when the driver deeply presses the accelerator pedal for an extended period of time.

Tesla (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will notify the affected owners through registered mail, text messages, and other means and arrange for the recall repairs. Users can also call the Tesla customer service hotline at 400-910-0707 for inquiries via mobile and landline phones. In addition, they can visit the websites www.dpac.org.cn and www.recall.org.cn or follow the official WeChat account (SAMRDPAC)(a social media platform of China) to learn more information and report any defect clues.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
