According to Gizcoupon’s report on May 5th, OnePlus announced earlier that it would launch its first foldable phone later this year. The latest news suggests that this phone will be released in August this year, according to a tipster named Max Jambor, who did not disclose any other information about the device.
Given OnePlus’s close relationship with OPPO, this foldable phone will likely be based on the OPPO Find N2 and Find N2 Flip. The specific name and specifications of the device are still unknown, but there are rumors that the company may be developing two different devices. One is a horizontally folding phone similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, and the other is a flip phone similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 4. OnePlus has already applied for trademarks for these two form factors in China: OnePlus V Fold and OnePlus V Flip.

OnePlus CEO Liu Zuohu has stated that the company’s first foldable screen phone will have a “signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience” and will not compromise on flagship phone industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects due to the folding form factor. Reportedly, the company also plans to build a smart ecosystem in the next three to five years to achieve seamless connectivity between devices.
Currently, the foldable phone market is still in its infancy, but more and more manufacturers are joining in, such as Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, and Honor. As a brand known for innovation and cost-effectiveness, OnePlus’ first foldable phone will undoubtedly bring surprises to consumers, and we look forward to seeing what it has to offer.
