According to a report from Gizcoupon on May 3, a well-known source named Tom Henderson has revealed that Sony is developing a PS5 Pro version. This high-end console is set to be released by the end of 2024. Additionally, its development kits will be sent to developers soon.

Henderson releases information about Sony PS5 Pro

Henderson had previously reported in March of this year that Sony was developing a PS5 Pro version. He claimed this version would be similar to the PS4 Pro but with improved performance. At the time, he had published an article on the Insider Gaming website but did not reveal any further details.

Subsequently, Henderson claimed that Sony was also developing other new hardware, including the Q-Lite handheld device and the PS5 Slim version. However, Sony has not officially confirmed these new hardware products, so it is unclear whether Henderson’s information is accurate.

Today, Henderson published another article on the Insider Gaming website. He claims that the PS5 Pro version is being developed internally at Sony, and development kits will be sent to first-line studios in the coming months. Third-line studios will also receive development kits by the end of this year.

Henderson’s article reiterated the release time for the PS5 Pro version, which is set for the fourth quarter of 2024.

“Insider Gaming can confirm 100% that the PS5 Pro is currently in development,” Henderson’s article states. He adds, “While we cannot reveal more details at this time, we understand that the first batch of development kit prototypes will be sent to first-line studios in the coming months, and third-line studios will receive them before the end of this year.”

Regarding these reports and rumors, Gizcoupon advises everyone to be cautious. However, Henderson has proven himself to be a reliable source in the past. Sony’s PS4 Pro version was released in 2016, three years after the release of the regular PS4 version. The current PS5 version (digital and disc) was launched in November 2020.
