According to a report by Gizcoupon, vivo is reportedly developing a new series of smartphones, the vivo S17. It is expected to launch in May and will go on sale during the 618 shopping festival. 618 is a China’s e-commerce shopping festival. The vivo S17 series is being developed specifically for the Chinese market.
Recently, Weibo blogger @数码闲聊站 revealed some of the main specifications of the S17 and S17 Pro. The series will have three models: the S17e (model V2285A), the S17 (model V2283A), and the S17 Pro (model V2284A).
The leaks suggest that the S17 will come with the SM7325 chip, which is expected to be the Snapdragon 778G. But the S17 Pro will be equipped with the Dimensity 8200 chipset. This is a departure from the previous generation S16 and S16 Pro. They were equipped with the Snapdragon 870 and Dimensity 8200 chipsets, respectively.
In terms of display, the S17 series will feature OLED displays from BOE with a resolution of 1.5K. The series will also adopt a curved display.
The rear camera setup of the S17 and S17 Pro will feature a 50MP main camera (Sony IMX766V, with optical image stabilization OIS support) and a 12MP portrait telephoto camera (Sony IMX663).
Leaked information shows that the S17 series will support 80W fast charging, which is a significant improvement over the previous generation S16 series.
Vivo is known for producing high-quality smartphones with cutting-edge technology, and the S17 series appears to be no exception. The use of the Snapdragon 778G and Dimensity 8200 chipsets, coupled with the 80W fast charging support, make these smartphones highly desirable for tech enthusiasts.
