Moto Edge 40 Pro (renamed Moto X40) will be launched globally

Motorola launched the X40 5G in China last year. The latter came with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. But as usually happens, this phone should appear in the international market under a different name. It seems that the model we are talking about should be the Moto Edge 40 Pro.

The company may unveil the Motorola Edge 40 Pro for the global market at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023. This device may have the same hardware as the Chinese version. According to Appuals, this phone should also adopt the same design as the X40 5G. The new renders show two color options – black and blue.

The Moto Edge 40 Pro will be one of the most affordable smartphones with the latest he Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

The back of the phone has a small square block for the triple camera module and the LED flash. On it, we can also see that the main camera will have a 50MP resolution. This is another thing in common with the X40 5G. The back is curved, and the Motorola logo is in the middle.

Well, the selling points of this handset should include a 6.67-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution. The screen has a refresh rate of 165 Hz and is protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

As mentioned, the Edge 40 Pro will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It will come with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB of internal storage. As a reminder, the Chinese version of the phone comes with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

The triple camera on the back will include 50MP primary shooter with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12MP portrait lens with 2x optical zoom. For selfies, the phone has a 60 MP sensor.

The device will have a 4600mAh battery supporting 125W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. It will come with stereo speakers and a USB Type-C port. However, the flagship phone doesn’t have a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The Edge 40 Pro could run his Android 13-based MyUX 13 by default. According to a report by Appuals, the 12GB + 256GB variant of Edge 40 Pro has an initial price of €850.
