Today was the day of Honor. It released the next-gen annual smartphones in the face of the Honor 80 and other products worth our attention. Among them, we should mention the new folding screen smartphone, namely the Honor Magic Vs. Due to various improvements, this handset is thinner but more solid. Do not look for the latest hardware under the hood, as it focuses more on performance than on the latest features.
The phone’s 8GB+256GB is priced at 7499 yuan ($1046), the 12GB+256GB model is available for 7999 yuan, and the 12GB+512GB variant comes for 8999 yuan ($1255). By the way, there is also the Ultimate Edition, which is available in a single variant of 16GB+512GB and costs 10,888 yuan ($1519). All models are available for pre-order, but they will start shipping on November 30.
Appearance
Both screens are fully upgraded. Now, they use lightweight aerospace-grade materials. Also, the new hinge reduces 92 parts to only 4. The weight of 261g is currently the lightest among large-screen inward folding phones.
The handset also uses an ultra-thin symmetrical wedge-shaped frame. Combined with the hinge gearless transmission technology, the opening and closing operations are significantly improved.
At the same time, the Honor Magic Vs Ultimate Edition “Phoenix Feather Gold” adopts 3D streamer glass texture technology, such as three-dimensional and light phoenix bird feathers; the “Bright Black” variant adopts a classic golden lens module and black glass back panel. Honor Magic Vs also has “Azure Blue” and “Burning Orange” colorways.
Screens
The Honor Magic Vs series has eye-protecting screens supporting 1920Hz PWM high-frequency dimming. The 6.45-inch 120Hz external screen has a brightness of up to 1200nit, while the 7.9-inch 90Hz internal screen has a 2K high-definition resolution and 800 nits of brightness. The Honor Magic Vs Ultimate Edition sports a 3D nano-crystallite outer screen, which is ten times more resistant to falling. Also, the low-reflection AR optical film makes the inner screen more transparent.
Hardware
The Honor Magic Vs series comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship chip. Plus, this phone comes with the three Turbo X tunings of Honor MagicOS 7.0. In effect, the phone operates more smoothly. At the same time, the Honor Magic Vs has a surrounding antenna extension technology. The LINK Turbo X network optimization can also provide stable network performance in underground parking and elevators.
Under the hood, the handset hosts an independent secure storage chip. Thus, it provides chip-level encryption of private information. The mobile phone USB-shield function has passed the mobile financial technology service certification.
Our protagonist comes with symmetrically-placed two speakers and supports the “DTS:X UItra Technology” sound effect algorithm. The 5000mAh battery supports 66W fast charging.
Camera
The Honor Magic Vs series imaging system is also at the flagship level. It includes a 54-megapixel primary camera sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 3x optical zoom lens, and it supports computational photography at all focal lengths. The Honor Magic Vs series has passed the IMAX ENHANCED certification.
