Today, Xiaomi Group officially launched the trendsetting flagship Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro. Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group, made his first appearance at the Civi phone launch event, announcing the global debut of the third-generation Snapdragon 8s chip on Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro. This marks the first time the Xiaomi Civi series is equipped with the 8 series flagship processor platform.
Design
Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro inherits high-end flagship features from the Xiaomi 14 series, offering Pro performance, imaging, and design. It debuts the third-generation Snapdragon 8s, delivering true flagship performance. With Leica optical Summilux lenses, it maintains the high-end imaging capabilities of the Xiaomi 14 series. While continuing the trendy and slim design of the Civi series, it incorporates flagship materials and craftsmanship, achieving a comprehensive upgrade in positioning, performance, and experience.
Since the introduction of the “Naturally Good-looking” proposition with Xiaomi Civi 1, and the establishment of a genuinely good-looking portrait style, Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro, with its comprehensive Pro capabilities, officially launches the new chapter of “trendsetting flagship,” completing the leap from “trendy phone” to “trendsetting flagship.”
Over the past few years, Xiaomi Group has extensively promoted its high-end strategy, creating various high-end explosive products that have garnered widespread attention domestically and internationally. This achievement stems from Xiaomi’s commitment to “starting with the end in mind and planning holistically” when creating products. Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group, stated, “Xiaomi’s high-end strategy is entering a phase of comprehensive advancement. To achieve an impeccable high-end experience, we must persistently invest in the underlying technologies of performance, imaging, and AI, continuously developing and iterating the latest algorithms tailored to user needs.”
Hardware
Xiaomi and Qualcomm have collaborated closely for many years. They deeply customized and refined the third-generation Snapdragon 8s flagship chip. This collaboration covers everything from definition to development and validation. It marks the first time in Qualcomm’s history that a terminal manufacturer has defined a flagship chip. Additionally, it leads to a new exploration of platform and terminal cooperation models. Thanks to this collaboration, Xiaomi can migrate a large number of high-end flagship features to the Civi series. This creates a comprehensive evolution in imaging, performance, design, and experience.
Initially, during product definition, Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro aimed for flagship standards. Positioned as the “little 14 Pro,” it fully embraced high-end technology and imaging capabilities from Xiaomi 14 Pro. This move shattered the stereotype of trendy smartphones being “weak in performance, mediocre in imaging, and poor in experience.” It expanded the territory of flagships and opened a new track for trendsetting flagships.
The third-gen Snapdragon 8s and 8 share a “dual flagship, dual ace” combo. Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro, unique in its class, uses the same-gen Snapdragon 8 chip. It boasts 66% CPU and 96% GPU boosts over its predecessor. With an advanced cooling system, it’s three times better than traditional VC cooling, making it a top performer in its class.
By leveraging Xiaomi’s powerful AI capabilities and integrating the deep customization of Qualcomm’s third-generation Snapdragon 8s, Xiaomi aims to become the “AI experience king” by incorporating new 2024 technologies. The Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro achieves comprehensive integration of Xiaomi AIGC functionality. It notably enhances document processing speed, increases the number of background-resident applications, and improves application startup speed.
Cameras and Other Features
As the only model in its class equipped with flagship Leica imaging, the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro sees the largest imaging upgrade in the history of the Civi series, achieving leaps and bounds in optical systems, computational photography, and imaging aesthetics. Not only does it reach the pinnacle of imaging in the Xiaomi Civi series, but it also leads the transformation of trendsetting smartphones in the field of imaging.
Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro retains the authentic Leica imaging, with rear cameras featuring Leica Summilux optical lenses and a comprehensive upgrade to three cameras. The main camera now boasts an f/1.63 super-large aperture, elevating light intake by 18%. This enhancement is coupled with the Light Hunter 800, enriching image layers. Furthermore, the ultra-wide-angle lens has been upgraded from 8 Megapixels to 12 Megapixels. Additionally, the portrait lens now features an f/1.98 super-large aperture. The front camera consists of an undistorted, uncropped 78° “beauty lens” and a 100° ultra-wide lens, forming a bionic dual-lens system, continuing to solidify Xiaomi Civi’s position as having the “strongest front camera in the industry.” Both front and rear cameras support four focal lengths, providing greater photographic freedom.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 provides excellent computing power in computational photography. Xiaomi integrated the highly performing Xiaomi AISP from the Xiaomi 14 Ultra into the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro. Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro now boasts a high computing power of 42 TOPS. By fully utilizing each computational module of the SoC and employing four independent large models, Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro achieves pixel-level fine calculation of people, backgrounds, and lighting based on the excellent imaging of Leica optical lenses.
Battery
It has a 4700mAh battery. It still holds 80% capacity after 1600 cycles. Additionally, it features the self-developed Xiaomi Pascal T1 signal enhancement chip and an efficient antenna arrangement. Moreover, it comes with dual stereo speakers.
