Meizu officially unveiled the Meizu 21 PRO tonight, its first open AI terminal. The Meizu 21 PRO is available in four vibrant colors: Starry Night Black, Meizu White, Glacier Blue, and Laurel Green.
Design and Display
In terms of design, the Meizu 21 PRO is available in four colors and features an integrated camera combination with a new double-sided “Smart Star Arc” design for a comfortable one-hand grip. The “Laurel Green” color scheme adopts an environmentally friendly plain leather with a leaf vein pattern. Additionally, a Meizu commemorative version in Meizu white color reflects the brand’s heritage of white panel craftsmanship. It sets the stage for the new trend in AI terminal technology. The new super-sensing outsole main camera equips the one-handed AI large-screen flagship, ensuring it delivers clearer and more stable shots through the OIS + EIS dual anti-shake experience.
The device boasts a new generation 2K+ color screen developed jointly with BOE, offering flagship quality with a 6.79-inch 21:9 ratio “one-handed giant screen.” This provides an immersive viewing experience akin to a private theater, ensuring an unforgettable gaming experience with a wider field of view and no black borders. With features like 2160Hz PWM high-frequency dimming for eye protection and up to 512PPI display accuracy, the Meizu 21 PRO delivers a beautiful and eye-friendly display.
Former CMO and Senior Vice President of Meizu Technology, as well as the founder of Angry Cat Technology, Li Nan, released a teaser on Weibo yesterday. He changed his Weibo model to “Meizu 21 Pro AI Terminal. The Meizu 21 Pro features Meizu Titan Glass 2.0, enhancing drop resistance by 200%; IP68 dustproof and waterproof capabilities for all-day protection; mTouch Max wide-area ultrasonic fingerprint recognition for fast and accurate unlocking even with wet hands; a 2K+ one-handed four-edge full-color giant screen for an immersive experience; mEngine Ultra for continued vibration; and 50MP pairs of OIS ultra-stable AI humanistic images.
Hardware
The Meizu 21 PRO features the third-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship processor, forming a powerful combination with LPDDR5X and UFS4.0 flagship performance. Further, it features wide-area ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, mTouch Max, with a 9 times larger unlocking area than the previous generation. It enables quick one-handed blind press unlocking and records fingerprints in just 1 second. One-handed operation characterizes the design of the Flyme system, and the flagship horizontal linear motor mEngine Ultra, equipped with 500+ vibration effects, accommodates almost all scenarios.
The third-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship processor powers the one-handed AI large-screen flagship under the hood. It features IP68 waterproof and dustproof capabilities, an Aicy smart ring, sixth-generation master-level “dual” super linear speakers, and an unbounded Antenna system 2.0.
Features
During the conference, Meizu also unveiled a new AI strategy, focusing on three major strategies: building AI Devices, reconstructing the Flyme system, and establishing an AI ecosystem. Despite entering the AI era, Meizu assures that the after-sales service for existing products will remain unchanged, honoring the 36-month warranty and system upgrade commitments, while also providing AI upgrade services for existing products. In response to inquiries about the Meizu 21 Pro’s pricing competitiveness, Li Nan expressed, “Xiaomi doesn’t even have this price, what are you thinking?” He affirmed that the Meizu 21 Pro is more than just a smartphone.
Meizu Technology previously announced the discontinuation of traditional smartphone projects, shifting towards an “All in AI” approach. The first “AI Device” hardware product under this initiative is expected to be released later this year. Li Nan’s Weibo post suggests that Meizu Technology will unveil its first “AI Device” with the launch of the Meizu 21 Pro tonight. The device features a powerful 50-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel super wide-angle lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera on the rear. Additionally, it boasts a high-resolution 32-megapixel front camera.
Pricing
The 12GB+256GB version is priced at 4,999 yuan (about $695), the 16GB+512GB version is 5,399 yuan (about $750), and the 16GB+1TB version is 5,899 yuan (about $820).
