Tonight, Xiaomi released the all-new Xiaomi 14 Ultra, set to go on sale on February 27th with a starting price of 6499 yuan (about $900).
The available versions include:
- 12+256GB version priced at 6499 yuan (about $900)
- 16+512GB version priced at 6999 yuan (about $970)
- 16+1TB version priced at 7799 yuan (about $1,085)
- Titanium Special Edition (16+1TB, featuring a tech nano-leather back and higher-grade titanium, available on March 12) priced at 8799 yuan (about $1,225)
Design
In terms of appearance, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra adopts a classic three-segment design with a fully wrapped metal mid-frame. It comes in a ceramic version (Dragon Crystal Blue) and a leather version (Black and White). The ceramic version uses Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Ceramic, 50% lighter than traditional ceramics, weighing 229.5g. The leather version features a tech nano-leather, 9.2mm thick, and weighing 224.4g, with a 6 times enhanced wear resistance, certified by SGS for 5-star durability.
Additionally, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is equipped with the new “Xiaomi Dragon Armor Architecture,” boasting a high-strength aluminum alloy frame and Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass. It claims an 8% improvement in the frame’s bending resistance over the iPhone’s titanium mid-frame and a 10 times enhancement in glass drop resistance.
Hardware
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra utilizes the third-generation Snapdragon 8 platform for its performance. It incorporates LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage, along with a new 4000m㎡ dual-loop circular cooling pump system to enhance its capabilities. It includes a separate cooling loop for the main camera and a vapor-liquid separation design, providing 3 times the performance of traditional VC.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra enhances communication through the incorporation of two self-developed P1 signal enhancement chips and the utilization of Xiaomi’s most robust high-performance antenna assembly. It achieves a notable 37% improvement in mid-to-high-frequency cellular communication performance. Additionally, there is a commendable 16% enhancement in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth performance. This advanced technology enables global roaming capabilities in over 160 countries and provides coverage across 430+ carrier networks.
Most importantly, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra supports direct connection to Tian Tong satellites, enabling real-time voice and two-way messaging. It surpasses the Huawei Mate 60 Pro in satellite capabilities (60% faster satellite searching, 29% faster satellite connection, and 13% faster call connection). The Xiaomi 14 Ultra features two P1 chips, with one specifically dedicated to enhancing satellite communication. This chip improves satellite antenna performance by 21% and supports electronic fences. Additionally, it enables a super power-saving mode, providing automatic reminders before entering no-signal areas.
Display
In terms of display, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra features the same screen as the Xiaomi 14 Pro, a 6.73-inch OLED fully curved screen with a resolution of 3200×1440, 1−120Hz LTPO seamless high refresh rate, 2160Hz touch sampling rate, 3000nit peak brightness, DC dimming, and 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The screen is calibrated for color accuracy at 110nit and 500nit typical brightness levels, with a ΔE≈0.3 and 12-bit color depth. Notably, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra also uses Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass with a Vickers hardness of 860 HV0.025, surpassing the second-generation Kunlun Glass (830).
Cameras
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra boasts a 32MP Howei OV32B40 front sensor for imaging. At the rear, it showcases a Leica Summilux “All-Star” quad-camera setup, featuring a 50MP Sony LYT-900 main camera (OIS) with a 1-inch f/1.63-f/4.0 variable aperture and ALD ultra-low reflective coating. Both the ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses utilize the Sony IMX858 sensor. Additionally, the two telephoto lenses are equipped to support macro shooting and leverage Xiaomi Imaging Brain 3.0 (Xiaomi AISP). With 30x or more zoom and UltraZoom beta AI enhancement, they enable 8K video shooting across the entire focal range.
Xiaomi announces the upgrade of Xiaomi Imaging Brain to the “world’s first AI large model computational photography platform,” named “Xiaomi AISP,” integrating the computational power of CPU, GPU, NPU, and ISP, with a capacity of up to 60TOPS. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra supports Super Snapshot, capturing 150 high-quality images in continuous burst mode, surpassing the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max (65 images).
Furthermore, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra upgrades to “Professional Street Photography Mode 2.0,” enabling instant capture in 0.7s without the need for focusing. Xiaomi also introduces the “Professional Imaging Kit,” with a built-in 1500mAh battery and Type-C connectivity. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra also features a new Master Portrait Mode, equipped with the Xiaomi Portrait LM portrait large model, supporting 4K 60fps continuous zoom (0.5~15x, front camera), 4K 120fps (1x) high-frame-rate slow-motion, and 8K 30fps (0.5/1/2/3.2/5x) video recording across the entire focal range.
Battery and Other Features
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra features a 5300mAh Jinsha River battery (300mAh more than the previous generation), supporting 90W wired fast charging (100% in 34 minutes), 80W wireless fast charging (100% in 49 minutes), and comes with the P2 intelligent fast-charging chip + P1 battery management chip, offering an extreme endurance mode.
Moreover, the device provides a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface (10Gbps), supports Wi-Fi 7, IP68 dust and water resistance, and comes with a professional photography handle accessory (C-type connection, providing a two-stage shutter, zoom dial, and built-in 1500mAh battery). In other aspects, the device adopts a Unibody metal frame body, equipped with a Raychem SLA1010 X-axis linear motor, top speaker 1014, bottom speaker Goerl 1115D, and a 0710 independent leak-proof earpiece, featuring four microphones.
