In January, at the Unpacked event, Samsung officially launched the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra, while also teasing the upcoming Galaxy Ring smart ring.
According to ETNews, Samsung is planning to unveil the Galaxy Ring at the Unpacked event in late July. This timing aligns closely with the expected release of the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 foldable phones.
The report suggests that the Galaxy Ring is expected to feature blood flow measurement and electrocardiogram functions to track health and sleep-related information. It will also support remote control of other devices and wireless payments.
Furthermore, the report mentions that the Galaxy Ring is currently in the prototype production stage, with plans for full-scale production starting in the second quarter. The expected size variants are around 8.
The Samsung Galaxy Ring has been previously exposed, as Samsung registered the trademark as early as the beginning of 2023. Recently, information about the device was found in a Samsung application, confirming its release in 2024.
Furthermore, Apple also is accelerating the development of a smart ring ” Apple Ring” to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Ring. The ring may have various biometric monitoring features and may contain an NFC chip for contactless payments.
