Xiaomi has just announced that it will launch its new budget phone, the Redmi A3, in India on February 14th. It features a 6.71-inch 90Hz display for a smooth experience. The box claims a “silky smooth” 90Hz refresh rate. Despite this, Redmi A series phones are known for being among the cheapest Android options.
The page on mi.com also reveals an upgrade in RAM – 6GB and 6GB of virtual RAM. The leaked box mentioned 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, indicating Xiaomi’s preparation for a new notch. This is an improvement from the Redmi A2+ configuration, which maxed out at 4/128GB.
Battery capacity remains consistent at 5000mAh, but the charging method has changed to USB-C (compared to the microUSB used in A2/A2+). It boasts a 10W charging speed.
Real-life images were shared to showcase the new design featuring a large circular camera island, referred to by Xiaomi as a “new high-end halo design.”
While the price is undisclosed, Xiaomi plans to reveal it next week. As a reference, the Redmi A2 is priced at Rs 6,300 for the 2/32GB model and Rs 8,500 for the 4/128GB model. So we expect the price of Redmi A3 in India to be 7000~9000 rupees (about $83-$108).
