At the ROG 2024 New Product Launch Conference, Asus introduced the ROG Gaming Phone 8 Series. The Asus ROG 8 carries a price tag of 4,799 yuan ($673), and the ROG 8 Pro is priced at 5,999 yuan ($840). Pre-orders for these phones started at 20:15 on January 16th, and sales will commence on January 18th.
Asus ROG Gaming Phone 8 Features
Asus has redesigned the ROG 8 Series, featuring an ultra-narrow bezel. The side bezel measures as thin as 1.67mm, and they have trimmed the upper bezel by 4mm. The rear design is minimalist, with a pentagonal stepped camera design and a middle frame thickness of 8.9mm. It includes the ROG logo and the “Republic of Gamers” emblem. The ROG 8 Pro has an AniMe Vision light display screen with 341 programmable Mini LEDs.
The series includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and is the first gaming phone with IP68 dustproof and waterproof certification. It uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 5G mobile platform with a “1+5+2” architecture and a maximum CPU frequency of 3.3GHz. The Adreno 750 GPU supports image motion engine 2.0 and real-time global illumination and reflection technology. The Snapdragon 8 Gen3 processor, in X mode, reaches an AnTuTu score of 2,258,374. The Liquid Cooling system 8.0, along with the AeroActive Cooler X fan, manages heat dissipation, improving efficiency by 20%.
The camera system of ROG 8 includes a 32-megapixel front camera, a 50-megapixel IMX890 main camera, and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The main camera has a 6-axis anti-shake Hybrid Gimbal 3.0. The ROG 8 Pro also features a 32MP telephoto lens (3x optical zoom).
The display is a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 94% body ratio and a refresh rate of 165Hz. The high brightness is 2500 nits. AI features include screen recognition, intelligent semantic search, and AI voice noise reduction. The battery is 5500mAh with 65W super fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Other features include AirTriggers shoulder buttons, a side charging interface, and Wi-Fi 7.

The ROG Gaming Phone 8 Series is available for pre-order, with sales commencing at 10:00 on January 18th. The ROG 8 carries a price tag of 4,799 yuan (about $675), the ROG 8 Pro costs 5,999 yuan (about $840), and the AeroActive Cooler X Fan is available for 599 yuan (about $84).
