Now officially available on the market, the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 targets enterprise users. This rugged tablet, equipped with specialized features, seamlessly navigates demanding work environments.
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 measures 126.8 x 213.8 x 10.1mm and weighs 433 grams. Anticipated for release in January, it comes pre-installed with the Android 14 and One UI 6 operating systems. Featuring a Corning Gorilla 5 Glass screen, the Tab Active 5 holds an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. Additionally, it complies with MIL-STD-810H military standards, allowing the tablet to endure drops from a height of 1.8 meters when accompanied by a protective case.
The Tab Active 5 now features an Active button with customizable functions. Additionally, it includes an IP68 waterproof S Pen stylus. Furthermore, it integrates the Samsung Knox security platform, complete with a Knox Vault encrypted space. Notably, the tablet introduces a unique “battery-less mode” ensuring uninterrupted functionality even when the replaceable battery is removed, by plugging it in as needed.
Examining its hardware capabilities, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 supports Wi-Fi 6 and 5G connections, offering an 8-inch TFT WUXGA display with a remarkable 120Hz refresh rate. Camera-wise, it features a 13-megapixel main camera (f/1.9 aperture) and a 5-megapixel front lens, catering to daily photography needs.
In terms of processing power, Samsung has not explicitly revealed the processor model, but indications suggest an Exynos 1380 eight-core chip employing a 5nm process. The tablet provides flexibility with options of 6GB or 8GB of RAM and storage capacities of 128GB or 256GB, expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card. The removable battery has a capacity of 5050mAh.
