At the CES 2024 exhibition, Samsung unveiled the M80D Smart Monitor, a significant improvement over the previous M8 model. The M80D inherits key features from the M8, such as a 32-inch 4K Ultra HD panel and a detachable camera, but with notable enhancements in detail.
Moreover, the M80D expands its capabilities despite being able to operate stand-alone without a PC like its predecessor. Beyond supporting video calls through the webcam, it enables direct streaming from platforms like Netflix and Prime Video. Additionally, the Display has Samsung’s game center, facilitating cloud gaming without extra equipment. The M80D also offers practical independent apps for smart home control, word processing, and fitness monitoring.
Regarding hardware, the M80D Smart Monitor excels, supporting HDR10+ high dynamic range technology for more realistic picture effects. The built-in two-channel speakers deliver a stereo sound experience, and Bluetooth connectivity simplifies connections with wearables and other devices. Notably, the Monitor allows quick sharing of images and text from Samsung devices like Galaxy smartphones and Book laptops.
Scheduled for release within this year, the Samsung smart Monitor M80D does not yet have a disclosed price. For reference, the preceding M8 model is priced at US$700.
