Samsung Electronics and South Korean Internet titan Naver have unveiled a striking collaboration initiative, focusing on investing in AI semiconductor solutions. Business Korea, a Korean media outlet, reports that these companies have not only achieved significant milestones in AI semiconductor technology but have also created the first solution chip. This Samsung-Naver AI Chip surpasses Nvidia’s H100 product in energy efficiency by more than eightfold.
Moreover, the joint semiconductor solution customized a field programmable logic gate array (FPGA) chip for Naver’s HyperCLOVA X large language model. However, the specifics of this chip remain under wraps.
Central to this partnership is Samsung’s utilization of its process technology. Concurrently, they aim to harness advanced memory solutions like computing storage, processing in memory (PIM), near memory processing (PNM), and computing express link (CXL). Complementing this, Naver will contribute its expertise in software and AI algorithms.
