Around March 2024, an update is planned for the MacBook Air by Apple, while new models of the MacBook Pro in 13-inch and 15-inch variants are currently in development. Reports suggest that the upcoming MacBook Air will retain a similar appearance, with the notable addition of an upgraded Apple M3 Chip.
This year’s updated MacBook Pro models already feature the M3 chip, manufactured using an advanced 3-nanometer process. This advancement promises enhanced performance and increased efficiency for users. Benchmark tests reveal a notable improvement, showcasing a 21% increase in CPU speed compared to the M2, along with a 15% boost in GPU speed.
Simultaneously, Apple is actively working on both the macOS 14.3 operating system and a new MacBook Air. The anticipated release window for macOS 14.3 is between the end of January and February. The new MacBook Air, expected to ship around March, may coincide with the launch of new iPad products.
Notably, Apple experienced a significant decline in Mac sales during the fourth fiscal quarter of 2023, with Mac product revenue plummeting to $7.6 billion, marking a 34% decrease from the same quarter in 2022 when it was $11.5 billion. Apple anticipates a potential resurgence in Mac sales following the introduction of the new MacBook Pro models. Moreover, the upcoming replacement of the MacBook Air in early 2024 is projected to further stimulate growth in Mac sales.
The new MacBook Air will deliver superior performance and energy efficiency with the incorporation of the advanced Apple M3 Chip. The launch of this innovative product could potentially catalyze Apple to restore its revenue and reverse the recent sales downturn.
