On November 28, the YouTube channel Tailosive EV updated a video, revealing that the Cybertruck battery capacity is 123 kWh, as informed by the showroom manager at the Tesla showroom in San Diego, California. This confirmation aligns with previously leaked information indicating a fully charged Cybertruck with a driving range of only 267 miles (429.69 kilometers).
Cybertruck Range Falls Short of Expectations
Four years ago, Elon Musk declared that the Cybertruck would attain a range of 500 miles (805 kilometers); however, current estimates suggest that the actual range fails to meet this target. When comparing the 123 kWh battery capacity to similar pure electric pickup trucks like the Ford F-150 Lightning or Rivian R1T, one considers it suboptimal. When we examine the Rivian R1T, which has a body size closest to the Cybertruck but is heavier, we find that it offers three versions. These include a 105 kWh Cybertruck battery with a range of 270 miles (435 kilometers), a 135 kWh battery with a range of 352 miles (566 kilometers), and a 180 kWh battery with a range of 410 miles (660 kilometers).
The Ford F-150 Lightning model offers a 98 kWh Cybertruck battery pack with a range of 230 miles (370 kilometers) and a 131 kWh battery pack with a range of 300 miles (483 kilometers). Both the Rivian R1T and Ford F-150 Lightning utilize dual-motor configurations, while it is anticipated that the Cybertruck will introduce a three-motor version.
Despite exceeding 2 million reservations, mainly for the dual-motor and three-motor versions, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated in an October 31 podcast that the company’s goal is to produce 200,000 electric pickup Cybertrucks annually. Explosions and leaked information have unveiled key specifications of the Tesla Cybertruck, indicating dimensions of approximately 5.67 meters in length, 2.03 meters in width, a height of about 1.79 meters, and a wheelbase of around 3.63 meters. The dual-motor version weighs about 3,028 kilograms, while the three-motor version weighs approximately 3,128 kilograms.
