Recently, the exposed news revealed that ZTE’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 gen 3 series new phones are introducing silicon carbon anode battery technology. The series includes three models: 5500mAh+165W, 6000mAh+80W, and 6500mAh+80W. Blogger @digitalchatstation reports that the upcoming Red Magic 9 Pro will feature a 6500mAh battery and support 80W fast charging.

Additionally, the Red Magic 9 Pro+ model is set to utilize a 5500mAh battery with support for 165W fast charging. Speculation among netizens suggests that the remaining 6000mAh+80W version could belong to the upcoming Nubia Z60 Ultra mobile phone, slated for an official unveiling next month.

While silicon-carbon anode battery technology might be unfamiliar to many, several flagship models released this year, including the Honor Magic 5, Huawei P60 Art, and Xiaomi Mix Fold3, have already incorporated this technology. The introduction of silicon-carbon anode technology enables a significant increase in mobile phone battery capacity while maintaining a thin body profile.

According to information from itbear technology, traditional graphite anodes exhibit an energy density of approximately 372mAh/g. In contrast, the theoretical energy density of pure silicon anode materials can reach 4200mAh/g, which is 10 times that of graphite anodes. However, a challenge arises as the silicon anode undergoes expansion during charging and discharging, with volume expansion potentially reaching 300%. To resolve this issue, carbon envelops silicon-carbon anode batteries, effectively mitigating the problem of silicon anode expansion.
