According to the latest reports, it appears that the collaboration between Samsung Electronics and BOE has already broken down. Reportedly, Samsung Electronics has ousted BOE from its supply chain. BOE, previously a supplier of LCD panels for Samsung, fulfilled 10% of the TV panel demand for Samsung in the first quarter of 2023. However, in the subsequent third quarter of 2023, Samsung’s Device Experience (DX) department removed BOE from the supply chain for its television and monitor panels.

Market observers point out that Samsung’s decision has hurt BOE, leading to a decline in the company’s market share in the third quarter. This situation may be related to the ongoing legal dispute between Samsung Display and BOE.

According to insiders, earlier this year, Samsung Display initiated an International Trade Commission (ITC) investigation against Chinese wholesalers, alleging the use of stolen patents and technology to manufacture and sell “cloned” organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels. Although Samsung did not directly accuse BOE, the investigation continued to escalate, raising concerns.

Months later, BOE responded by filing multiple lawsuits against several Samsung branches in China. Recently, for the first time since the conflict began, Samsung Display directly initiated actions against BOE in the ITC investigation.
